Which Potato is the Sweetest?

I was planning a lunch that included chicken and seafood stir-fried in coconut oil with garlic, chilli, coriander, and ginger, and an Asian salad as a side dish. Because I can't eat bread, I also wanted a dish that contained potatoes and complemented the other Asian dishes.

I Googled 'Asian roast potatoes' to see what I could find, and discovered a recipe with a five-star rating called Roasted Spicy Asian Sweet Potatoes. I have many excuses for what happened next – it was late at night, I was getting over another sinus infection and I was totally focused on white potatoes – but whatever the reason, my brain wasn’t working much, if at all, on this occasion.

The first ingredient in the recipe was sweet potatoes. We eat sweet potatoes almost every week, so I’m very familiar with them, but instead of adding sweet potatoes (the orange kind – kumara) to my shopping list, I Googled the following phrase 'which potatoes are sweet?'

Of course, all results showed 'sweet potatoes' or 'kumara' and as soon as I saw the results, I facepalmed myself.

The recipe, however, was a hit (not the facepalm kind). You can find this recipe on the recipe page. The butter and sugar does make it rather naughty, but your taste buds will love you for it!
